To Delight...

Deléitate is the Spanish word for Delight...
When you look up Delight in the dictionary it says: a high degree of pleasure or enjoyment; joy, something that gives great pleasure.

I have chosen this word for my blog because it comes from my life verse... Psalm 37:4 - Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.

When I heard this verse in February of 1993... it stuck with me. This was the first verse I memorized!!! Since the first day that I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior all that I have ever wanted to do was to delight myself in Him... in His words, in getting to know Him, in living my life for Him. And its not just only to find pleasure or enjoyment - but a high degree of it... It just leaves me in awe that I - Deborah - can delight myself in Him - the creator of Heaven and earth... the Alpha and Omega... Its just humbling.

Here’s how Matthew Henry put it: “He has not promised to gratify all the appetites of the body and the humours of the fancy, but to grant all the desires of the heart, all the cravings of the renewed sanctified soul. What is the desire of the heart of a good man? It is this, to know, and love, and live to God, to please him and to be pleased in him.”

John MacArthur spoke on this verse: http://www.gty.org/Blog/B101221 - check it out. It was truly a blessing to me.
